Abhay Sonam camaraderie

Abhay Deol and Sonam Kapoor are the latest entrants to Bollywood's 'just friends' brigade.The duo have been spotted spending quality time together since quite some time.Sonam was the first one to enter and the last one to leave at Abhay's birthday bash recently.

Apparently,the bash was only for Abhay's friends outside film industry.

It was so that the duo were completely relaxed and did not mind being spotted together. Also, Abhay was among one of the few personal guests invited by Sonam at the Delhi-6 premiere.

Abhay and Sonam would also sizzle in Anil Kapoor's production Ayesha, based on Jane Austen's novel Emma. Hope that's not a silly publicity stunt!

Herman Baweja's documentary premiers at Cannes

Herman Baweja's Victory may not have been victorious at the box office but it did help the newcomer in more ways than one. Apparently, critically acclaimed director Pan Nalin was impressed with Herman's performance in the film and signed him on for a documentary that he was directing titled Echo of Eco. Now this very documentary was screened at this year's Cannes Film Festival and Herman couldn't have been happier.

The documentary Echo of Eco is a part of United Nations Patronage Project, where 30 filmmakers from different parts of the world are invited to volunteer for making 'Save Our Environment' films.

Each short film will be showing in an artistic way their message to Save the Planet. From India, Pan Nalin has been invited to join the league of international filmmakers and celebrities.

Echo of Eco stars Herman Baweja along with Ferena Wazier and Ilya Pandya. Speaking about choosing Hurman for the lead role, Pan Nalin says, "Echo of Eco's lead role is that of a young Indian software millionaire, who loses everything in the current Economic Meltdown like many others in recent times, he too decides to kill himself. Herman has right look, besides when producer Deepika Gandhi and Mihir Upadhyaya contacted the actor, he read the script and got ready to participate. Herman Baweja even found dates from his busy back-to-back schedule from Ashutosh Gowarikar's new film."

Even producer Mihir Upadhyaya was all praise for Herman. "Herman was quick to understand the message of the film and promptly agreed to join us. I found this gesture of Hurman filled with humility and responsibility." Well, let's hope this short film does for Herman what Victory and Love story 2050 couldn't.

Katrina Kaif doen't beleive in loyalty

Katrina Kaif may be the brand ambassador of the IPL team Royal Challengers, but Katrina's favorite player isn't from her own team.

The sultry beauty made no bones about it recently, much to the surprise of Kaif's promoters who were nothing but embarrassed by her statement.

When Katrina Kaif named Dhoni as her favorite player, the promoters of her own team felt Kats was not being loyal to them. It's learnt that the team's management and players didn't expect such a surprise from the Bollywood beauty.

Now, that Katrina has made her choice clear, we wonder if such statements would allow her to remain the teams brand ambassador for long? Let's wait and watch.

I'M Not Dating Britney Spears

Ace Indian choreographer Sandeep Soparrkar wants to once and for all put to rest rumours about his alleged affair with Britney Spears and says he is too much in love with his partner Jesse Randhawa to even think of dating the American pop star.

Sandip Soparrkar said, "I don't want to talk much about it as I am already in the news for the wrong reasons, but I want to make one thing clear that I am not dating Britney Spears."

The international media was abuzz with the news that Spears is dating Soparrkar. Media reports had said that the two met at Madonna's party, hit it off immediately and later Spears came to India to spend time with him.

Soparrkar specialises in Latin American ballroom dancing and says the attitude of Indians towards this dance form is changing and people are now taking it seriously.

Sandip added to the statement saying that the most important thing is to understand and learn dance; only then can you excel in classes. There are people who are born with some dancing skills, but it is something that can be learnt over a period of years.

While Bollywood actors like Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapur have become a rage for their dancing skills, Soparrkar's personal favourite is Govinda, who according to him is a carefree and energetic dancer.

"He dances so beautifully and his effortless moves and great expressions make him a treat to watch. He dances from the heart and you can see the pleasure dancing gives him," he said.

Soparrkar made his debut on the small screen with music reality show Chak De Shehar Di Kudiyan Te Galli De Gunde. Sandip Soparrkar is considered a bit of a hottie in India, where he is quite famous.

Shabana-Javed Best Couple

Veteran writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar and his equally talented actor wife Shabana Azmi have been voted the best couple in Bollywood in an online poll conducted by matrimony portal BharatMatrimony.

The elegant couple, who managed to woo 29 percent votes, pipped star couples like Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan-Gauri, Abhishek Bachchan-Aishwarya Rai, Ajay Devgan-Kajol, et al to win the title, stated a press release.

The results came nearly a month after the portal had conducted a survey to find out the 'best power couples' and 'best Bollywood couples' of 2009 as part of Matrimony Day April 14.

In the best power couple category, business magnate Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani walked away with the lion's share of votes, leaving behind contenders like N.R Narayana Murthy-Sudha Murthy, Anil Ambani-Tina Ambani, Lakshmi Narayan Mittal-Usha Mittal, Robert Vadra-Priyanka Gandhi and Yash Birla-Avanti Birla.

The celebrity poll was conducted on Matrimony Day, April 14th to highlight happy couples to generate interest amonst most relevant site viewers to experience the joy of togetherness.

The survey involved 20,800 individuals who had cast their vote.

Sushmita fears Role Chopping

Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta, two former Miss Universe winners are sharing screen in in David Dhawan’s next movie Do Knot Disturb.

Their rivalry is well known and as such there are reasons for such apprehensions and fears on Sushmita Sen's mind.

But what she fears is that Lara may have more footage in the movie and the fact even becomes more evident when we have a look at the male leads. Appearing in the movie are Govinda, Ritesh Deshmukh and Sohail Khan who are known for their comic timing and the movie being made on that genre it is certain that they will occupy the screen for a major part of eth movie.

Now in between Lara and her, it will certainly be Lara who will be having more time onscreen considering her recent popularity.

Sush has not delivered any hits for a long time and she is desperate for one even though she is not showing it. On the other hand, Lara Dutta had seen her career graph rising steadily.


Maybe it is time that Sush should stop worrying about role chopping and put her best foot forward. She should let her work do all the talking. Will the talent she has at her hand she will surely be able to win the hearts of the audiences.
